How to get someone banned on Roblox, and what actually triggers a ban

Short answer. No player can ban another player from Roblox. How to get someone banned on Roblox comes down to one Report Abuse filing that points at a specific rule break, which Roblox’s moderators or automated systems then confirm. The number of reports is not the trigger. If you own the game, the Ban API lets you ban someone from Roblox server instances of that experience directly, and it catches their suspected alt accounts too.

Most advice on getting an account banned starts from a number: ten reports, fifty, a hundred from a group chat. No major platform publishes such a number, and the ones that discuss report volume say it does not decide anything. Roblox’s EU transparency filing for 17 February to 31 December 2024 lists 371,934 user notices next to 58,522,615 account suspensions, so most suspensions in that filing cannot be traced to a member’s notice at all.

This guide sorts the question by trigger rather than by app. It covers what a report has to show, which bans you can issue yourself, and how the rules differ on Discord, YouTube, Steam, Call of Duty, Valorant, Fortnite, Kick, Kik, Hinge, Bumble, Lemon8, Mastodon, Truth Social and LinkedIn.

How to get someone banned on Roblox: what the report must show

To get a Roblox player banned, report the exact item that breaks the Community Standards: the chat line, the voice clip, the avatar or the experience. Inside an experience, use Report Abuse; outside one, use the three-dot menu on the player’s profile. Roblox decides the penalty after review. The reporter only chooses the evidence and the rule it breaks.

Banner reading Evidence decides, not the headcount: how to get someone banned on Roblox with one evidenced report run.
Read the dotted run as the group-chat campaign: it reaches the gate with nothing new for the reviewer to check.

Report Abuse inside an experience is the stronger of the two routes, because it sends moderators the in-game context along with the complaint. A profile report suits an offensive username, avatar or bio, where the profile itself is the evidence. Choose the closest rule category, since a report filed as “bullying” is read against the bullying rule and nothing else.

In the fourth quarter of 2025 Roblox flagged 15,646,760 items under its terms of service: 15,145,618 account actions, mostly from chat and voice, and 501,142 content actions.Roblox Corporation, Terms of Service transparency report for Q4 2025, filed with the New York Attorney General.

How to get someone banned in Roblox is therefore a question of precision more than persuasion. A moderator who sees a slur, a threat, or a request to move the conversation to another app can act on a single report. A moderator who reads that a player is annoying has nothing to act on, however many friends file the same complaint.

Account termination is the rare end of the scale. The same 2024 EU filing counts 164,883 terminations against 58.5 million suspensions, roughly one termination for every 355 suspensions, and gives a median of 10 minutes to process a user notice. Most Roblox penalties are temporary, so a player who is back next week may well have served one.

How to ban someone from a Roblox server you own

Only the owner of an experience, or a group member given ban permissions, can ban someone from Roblox server instances of that game. The tool is the Ban API, run from the Moderation menu in the Creator Dashboard or from the game’s scripts. A private server owner without that role can still block a player, which evicts that player from the private server at once.

Banner reading Owner's ban, alts included: the player run and the dotted alt run both stop at the experience gate.
Alt detection is on by default and can be switched off for an individual ban, in the Creator Dashboard or through the API.

Roblox released the Ban API together with real-time alt account detection in August 2024. When an owner bans a user, suspected alt accounts of that user are banned at the same moment; the alt setting is on by default and can be switched off. The owner sets an end date or a permanent ban and writes two reasons: a public one, shown to the banned player at the join screen, and a private one kept in the moderation history.

The ban stops at the edge of that one experience. A player banned from your game keeps their Roblox account, their friends and every other experience, and Roblox has said its alt detection is tuned to keep false positives very low, so some alts get through. Admin packs such as HD Admin give private server owners a /kick command in games that install them. A kick is not a ban, and the player can rejoin. For an owner, that is the practical answer to how to get someone banned on Roblox: remove the player from your experience now, and report them to Roblox only if they broke a platform rule.

How many reports do you need to get banned? No platform publishes a number

No major platform publishes a report threshold, and the platforms that discuss volume say it does not decide the outcome. One report showing a clear violation can be enough; thousands showing none change nothing. The useful version of how many reports do you need to get banned is what each platform does with the second, tenth or hundredth report. The table below collects their own answers.

PlatformWhat it says about report volumeSource
YouTubeOne flag or a thousand goes through the same review; if no violation is found, the video stays upYouTube Help, “Report inappropriate videos, channels & other content”
Call of DutyOnly the first report from each player counts; reports are combined with gameplay data and RICOCHET detectionsCall of Duty on X, 9 November 2023
ValorantUnique reporters and the number of games reported raise confidence; 60% of players with 20 reports were banned after reviewRiot Games dev blog, 31 August 2020
Bluesky9.97 million reports in 2025 led to 13,192 temporary suspensions; mass reporting alone does not suspend anyoneBluesky 2025 Transparency Report, 29 January 2026
RobloxNo published threshold; 371,934 EU user notices against 58.5 million suspensions in 2024Roblox EU DSA Transparency Report, 2024
craigslistThe exception: enough community flags remove a free ad automatically, and a compliant ad can be repostedcraigslist help, “Flagging”

The YouTube row settles how many reports to get a youtube video taken down: one, if the video breaks a rule, and no quantity at all if it does not. Craigslist is the only large service on the list where volume itself removes something, and even there the ad can come back. The Roblox row matters most to anyone asking how to get someone banned on Roblox with a group of friends: there is no threshold to reach.

97% of Valorant players had never been reported, only 0.3% had three or more cheating reports, and 53% of banned cheaters had never been reported before their ban. Twenty reports led to a ban 60% of the time.Paul Chamberlain, “VALORANT Anti-Cheat: Cheater, Reported!”, Riot Games, 31 August 2020.

Riot’s figures answer how many reports to get banned on Valorant better than any forum thread: 40% of players reported twenty times were cleared on review. For how many reports to get banned on Call of Duty, Activision’s answer is one per reporter, because “our system only considers the first report” from each player. Ten reports from the same person are one report.

The same logic covers how many reports to delete someone’s account and how many reports to disable an account on social apps. Removal follows either one severe confirmed violation or strikes stacked from separate confirmed violations; our breakdown of Instagram’s strike ladder shows the version Meta publishes. Dating apps answer how many reports to get banned on Bumble the same way: neither Bumble nor Hinge publishes a figure. Services selling report batches are selling the one input these platforms discount, which is why what a removal service can do is a shorter list than their adverts suggest.

What actually triggers a ban, if not the report count?

Five things trigger bans across these platforms: one confirmed severe violation, strikes stacking across separate confirmed violations, automated detection such as anti-cheat and spam filters, confidence built from independent reporters, and ban evasion. A report feeds the first, second and fourth. A report never replaces the confirmation step, and a report that gives the reviewer nothing to confirm ends there.

Banner reading Confirmation before penalty: only the confirmed run passes the gate, while unconfirmed reports stop short.
Meta's strikes expire after a year, so a pattern of confirmed violations has to build inside that window to end an account.
  1. One confirmed severe violation

Child exploitation, credible threats, sexual extortion and doxxing end accounts on a single confirmed instance on every platform in this guide. Discord disabled 357,056 accounts for policy violations other than spam in the first half of 2024, and 35,456,553 more for spam, according to its transparency report for that period.

  2. Strikes stacking over time

Lesser violations earn strikes that expire, and the ban comes from the pattern. TikTok has reported that almost 90% of accounts breaking its rules repeat through the same feature, which is why getting a TikTok account banned usually means reporting the second and third violation, not only the first. Facebook’s harassment tiers work the same way.

  3. Automated detection

Anti-cheat software such as Vanguard, RICOCHET and VAC, and spam classifiers on social apps, find most violators before anyone reports them. LinkedIn removed about 83.4 million fake accounts in the first half of 2025 and caught 99.7% of them proactively, according to its Community Report.

  4. Independent reporters

Riot counts unique reporters and the number of separate games in which a player was reported. Reports from players in different matches carry evidence that one lobby repeating itself does not.

  5. Ban evasion

A new account opened by a banned user breaks the rules on its own, whatever it posts. Roblox’s alt detection extends an experience ban to suspected alts automatically.

Impersonation is the clearest single-report case, because the evidence is the account itself. The forms differ by platform: Instagram’s fake-account report, reporting a fake TikTok account and fake Facebook profiles each ask the person being impersonated to prove who they are. When the impersonation runs through a Facebook Page or an ad instead of a profile, Facebook’s impersonation report routes each one to a separate review.

Which bans can you issue yourself?

Several services hand a ban button to whoever runs the space: a Discord server, a YouTube channel, a Kik group, a Kick channel, a Steam group or game server, a Mastodon server and a Roblox experience. Those bans take effect at once and need no review by anyone. None of them touches the person’s account anywhere else on the platform.

A Discord server ban also stops the member rejoining through any invite link the server hands out later.

How to ban someone on Discord: right-click the member, choose Ban, pick how much of their recent message history to delete, and confirm; on mobile, tap the member and choose Ban. You need the Ban Members permission. To get someone banned on Discord itself, report the offending messages to Trust & Safety from the message menu, because a server ban never reaches Discord’s staff.

How to ban someone on YouTube, in the only sense a creator can: since June 2023 the old block option reads “Hide user from channel”. Open the three-dot menu on one of their comments, or go to Comments in YouTube Studio, and choose it. The person is not notified and still sees their own comments. That is how to ban someone from your YouTube channel, and it is what most searches for how to ban someone youtube channel are after. How to ban someone from YouTube as a whole is a different job, which only YouTube’s reviewers do after a report against a specific video or channel.

To ban someone on Kik inside a group you run, open the group, tap the member, choose Ban from Group and confirm. How to get someone banned on Kick from your own chat is one command, /ban followed by the username, open to the channel owner and moderators, with /timeout for a temporary mute. How to ban someone on Steam depends on what you run: a group officer can ban a member from the group, and a server admin can ban a player from that server, but no player can issue a VAC ban.

How to get someone banned on Call of Duty, Valorant, Fortnite or Steam

In competitive games the anti-cheat decides, not the lobby. To get someone banned on Valorant or Call of Duty, report the player under the closest category, such as cheating or abusive voice chat, and let Vanguard or RICOCHET weigh the report against gameplay data. Players cannot ban each other from these games, and no number of teammates reporting together changes that.

How to get someone banned on Call of Duty for cheating starts with the in-game report. Activision’s account says each report is logged and combined with gameplay data, RICOCHET detections and other account signals, and that action follows when cheating is verified. A report for disruptive voice works the same way and is checked against the audio, not against the count.

How to ban someone in Fortnite is not possible for players; only Epic issues account bans. How to get someone banned on Fortnite runs through the in-game report, Fortnite’s website, or Epic’s Reporting Misconduct form. Epic’s penalties range from losing voice or text chat for a period to a permanent ban from Epic products.

Fortnite voice reporting keeps a rolling five-minute buffer of voice chat. Epic receives the clip only when a participant reports it, and the clip is deleted after 14 days or once any sanction ends.Epic Games, Fortnite voice reporting FAQ.

To get someone banned on Steam, use Report Violation on the profile for profile and chat abuse, which Steam’s community moderators handle. Report cheating through the game’s own tools instead, since cheating is judged by VAC or by the developer. VAC bans come from automated detection, are permanent, and Steam Support will not remove them.

Hinge, Bumble, Kik, Lemon8, Mastodon, Truth Social, LinkedIn: who reads the report?

On dating, chat and social apps the report goes to a moderation team you never see, and none of these apps publishes a count. To get someone banned on Hinge or Bumble, report from the profile or the chat and say what happened, on the date or in the messages. Both apps combine user reports, moderator review and automated detection, and Hinge says a human moderator reviews every appeal.

Match Group, which owns Hinge and Tinder, promised in 2020 to publish a transparency report on harm across its apps. By February 2025 it had not published one.The Markup, “Dating App Cover-Up: How Tinder, Hinge, and Their Corporate Owner Keep Rape Under Wraps”, 13 February 2025.

To get someone banned on Kik as a platform, open the profile, tap the three dots, choose Report User, pick the reason and select Report and Block. How to get someone banned on Kik for something said in a group works the same way, and the group itself can be reported if it exists for the abuse. Harassment that moves from Kik to Telegram needs a new report there: report a Telegram account, or follow the steps for reporting a Telegram scammer if money was asked for.

To get someone banned on Lemon8, use the in-app report or email [email protected]. Lemon8 belongs to ByteDance, and its Community Guidelines say a severe or repeated violation can bring penalties on both Lemon8 and TikTok, so the TikTok ban rules are the better guide to what a Lemon8 strike leads to.

To get someone banned on Mastodon, report the post. The report goes to your own server’s moderators, with an option to forward an anonymous copy to the poster’s server. Only that home server can delete the account; your server’s moderators can suspend a remote account, which cuts it off from your server alone.

To get someone banned on Truth Social, report the post with Report Truth, or report the message inside a chat. Truth Social’s moderation FAQ says moderators cannot see a chat thread unless the message itself is reported, so reporting only the user gives them nothing to read.

How to get someone banned on LinkedIn: report the profile or post from its More menu under the closest Professional Community Policy. If the problem is a false claim about you rather than a rule break, a report is the wrong tool, and the defamation removal routes fit better.

When does reporting someone backfire?

Reporting backfires when the report is false, coordinated or repeated to pressure staff. Discord’s support-abuse policy treats reports carrying demonstrably untrue information, sent to manipulate staff, as a violation in their own right. Call of Duty discards every repeat report after the first, so repetition costs the reporter time and adds nothing.

Banner reading Filed again, counted once: one report run passes the gate; the repeat breaks and goes dotted.
Call of Duty published its first-report rule in November 2023 to answer the belief that spam reporting gets accounts actioned.

The faster route is often not a report at all. Copied photos and clips go through copyright, which platforms process as a legal notice rather than a judgement call: see a DMCA notice on X or TikTok copyright reports. Intimate images have their own legal route, covered in removing leaked images, and fake reviews of a business go through negative review removal.

Clearline does not file mass reports or buy them. Casework means building the one report a reviewer can act on and choosing the route that fits it, from reporting a Facebook account to a legal notice; our content removal casework page sets out what that covers and what it cannot promise. No outside party can guarantee a platform’s decision.

This is not legal advice. Threats of violence, sexual extortion and anything involving a child belong with the police and, in the US, NCMEC’s CyberTipline as well as the platform. A ban removes an account; it does not stop the person.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get someone banned on Roblox for being rude?

Only if the rudeness breaks a Community Standard, such as harassment, slurs, threats or sharing personal information. Ordinary trash talk is usually allowed. Report the exact chat line with Report Abuse inside the experience, then block the player. If you own the private server, blocking also removes them from it at once.

Does a Roblox game ban carry over to alt accounts?

An experience owner's ban usually does. The Ban API bans suspected alt accounts in real time, a setting that is on by default, although Roblox says some alts slip through. A ban from Roblox itself covers the account, and a new account made to evade it breaks the rules and is removed when found.

Do more reports make a ban happen faster?

Not on the platforms that say so publicly. YouTube reviews one flag and a thousand the same way, Call of Duty counts only the first report from each player, and Riot weighs unique reporters rather than raw totals. Speed comes from the right category and clear evidence, not from volume.

How do I ban someone from my Discord server permanently?

Right-click the member, choose Ban and confirm; you need the Ban Members permission. A server ban stays in place until a moderator lifts it from the Bans list in Server Settings. It covers only your server. For action against the account across Discord, report the messages to Discord's safety team.

Can I get in trouble for reporting someone?

Not for a truthful report filed once. Discord treats reports with demonstrably untrue information, sent to manipulate staff, as a violation of their own, and coordinated false reporting can breach other platforms' terms too. Report what happened, with the evidence, and let the review run.
