Report Twitch streamer for harassment, or a Twitch user in chat: the place it happened picks the desk

Short answer. To report Twitch streamer for harassment, open the channel, select the three-dot menu beside Share, choose Report, pick the harassment reason and describe the incident with a VOD timestamp or a clip. To report Twitch user for harassment in chat or whispers, report the message or the account from its user card. Twitch emails a reference number on filing and, if it acts, a decision. Report volume does not change the outcome.

People who search how to report Twitch streamer for harassment usually have one of four situations: a streamer said something on stream, a viewer kept attacking someone in chat, a stranger sent whispers, or the harassment came from a Twitch creator on another site. Each of those reaches a different part of Twitch’s review process, and each needs different evidence. A report that points at the wrong surface, or that carries no timestamp, is the one that comes back with nothing.

This guide sorts the Twitch routes by where the harassment happened and what the reviewer needs to see. It then covers the questions that tend to follow: whether Twitch acts on conduct outside Twitch, why mass reporting does not get anyone banned faster, and where to file when the same person moves to Roblox, Steam, Warzone, Discord, Kik, Hinge, Grindr, or Google’s own products.

How to report Twitch streamer for harassment, step by step

A Twitch streamer is reported from the channel page: the three-dot menu next to the Share button opens Report, where the reporter picks a reason, writes a description and attaches evidence. For harassment said live, the evidence that matters most is the time it happened, as a VOD timestamp or a clip, because a reviewer cannot act on a stream nobody can find again.

Banner reading Timestamp first. Then the reason: report Twitch streamer for harassment, one run seated in a gate
A clip or a local recording outlives a VOD the streamer can delete; the timestamp is what a reviewer opens first.

Twitch’s page for its Australian Online Safety Act obligations describes the in-service User Report Tool as something a viewer can start “directly from the content”, and points to a “How to File a User Report” help article for the screens. The community wiki kept by r/Twitch moderators lists the same steps and asks for screenshots, clips, and dates and times where possible. A report that says “this streamer harasses people” without a moment attached gives the reviewer a channel to watch and no incident to judge.

Twitch also accepts reports about streamers that are confidential. In its June 2020 update, written after a wave of harassment and assault allegations against creators, Twitch asked anyone who wanted to share an experience to “report confidentially through the reporting tools on each streamer’s channel page”. The streamer is not told who filed the report.

  1. Find the moment

Open the past broadcast and note the timestamp, or create a clip covering the remark. Highlights and VODs can be deleted by the streamer, so a clip or a screen recording saved locally is safer.

  2. Open Report on the channel

Use the three-dot menu beside Share on the channel or the video, then Report. Reporting a specific VOD or clip ties the report to the content, which is better than a channel-level report.

  3. Pick the reason that matches

Choose harassment, or hateful conduct when the attack targets a protected characteristic. A reason that does not match what the reviewer sees can delay the decision.

  4. Write the description like a log entry

Who was targeted, what was said, at what time, and whether it continued. Plain facts with times are easier to verify than a summary of the streamer’s history.

  5. Keep the reference number

Twitch sends a confirmation email after filing. That number is what a follow-up or a second report should quote.

Where did the harassment happen: stream, chat, whispers or somewhere else?

The surface where the harassment happened decides where the report starts and what proof it needs. Said on stream means a channel, VOD or clip report with a timestamp. To report Twitch user for harassment typed in chat, the report goes on the chat message or the user card. Sent in whispers means a report from the whisper thread. Said on another site means Twitch’s separate off-service route, which needs verified evidence.

Banner reading The surface decides: one run turns down at the gate while a dotted run stops short of it
A chat attack reported on the streamer sends the reviewer to the wrong account; report the message’s author.

Most failed reports mix these up. A viewer who was attacked in a streamer’s chat files a report on the streamer, and the reviewer watches a stream in which the streamer said nothing. The chat user is the account that broke the rules, so the report belongs on that account’s message. The table below sets out each surface.

When the target is the reporter, the steps to report Twitch user for harassment are the same as for any viewer: open the user card from the username in chat, choose Report, and select harassment. Blocking the account at the same time keeps it out of whispers. A streamer who is being harassed can also use channel tools such as AutoMod and chat restrictions, which act immediately inside the channel while the site-wide report waits.

The European Commission’s summary of Twitch’s 2025 hate speech report notes that Twitch fully rolled out real-time chat prompts that ask users to reconsider a potentially harmful message before it posts. Those prompts reduce what reaches a chat, but they do not replace a report on a message that was posted anyway.

What does Twitch count as harassment?

Twitch treats harassment as conduct meant to intimidate, degrade or abuse a person or group, and treats attacks based on protected characteristics separately as hateful conduct. Twitch’s policy summary filed with the New York Attorney General for January to June 2026 lists personal attacks, promotion of physical harm and malicious brigading among the forms of harassment that lead to enforcement against the accounts involved.

The hateful conduct definition in Twitch’s Community Guidelines covers content or activity that promotes, encourages or facilitates discrimination, denigration, objectification, harassment or violence based on characteristics including race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious medical condition and veteran status. A report that names the characteristic targeted lets the reviewer apply the stricter rule.

What Twitch does not count is the limit most reporters miss. Criticism of a streamer’s gameplay, opinions or business decisions is not harassment under the guidelines, and neither is a single rude comment in most cases. Twitch says it weighs intent and context. A report built on several dated incidents aimed at one person shows a pattern; a report built on one heated exchange often does not. Anyone who wants to report Twitch streamer for harassment over a long feud does better with three dated clips than with one summary.

Twitch received 470,558 hate speech notices in 2025 and took 45,368 enforcement actions under its terms, plus 1,662 on its own initiative, with a median review time under one hour.European Commission, Twitch report under the Code of Conduct on Countering Illegal Hate Speech Online, published 10 April 2026

The ratio in that figure is the useful part for a reporter. Fewer than one in ten hate speech notices led to an enforcement action under Twitch’s terms, which means most notices did not show a violation the reviewer could confirm. Specific, timestamped reports are the ones in the smaller group.

Can Twitch act on harassment that happened off Twitch?

Twitch can act on some conduct that happened outside Twitch, but only under its off-service policy, announced on 7 April 2021. Hateful conduct or harassment directed at the Twitch community on other sites can be considered when there is verifiable evidence, and the most serious offences, such as violence threats or sexual exploitation, are investigated with an outside firm. Reports go to [email protected].

Banner reading Verified, or nothing: a solid run passes a seated gate while a dotted run ends against it
Twitch’s off-service route acts on links, screenshots or police filings it can check, and threats go to police first.

Twitch’s April 2021 post said it had hired a third-party investigations firm with experience in workplace and campus investigations, and that it acts only on verified evidence such as links, screenshots, video, interviews or police filings. Twitch also said the address “is not a replacement for law enforcement”, so a threat of violence goes to the police first and to Twitch second. The information is kept within a small internal group and the investigative partner.

Older policy text sets two further limits. Twitch said it would not actively monitor other services for violations, and its 2018 guidelines FAQ said off-Twitch conduct before 5 March 2018 would not be acted on. A Twitch creator’s post on X, a thread organised on another forum, or a doxxing page therefore reaches Twitch only if someone sends the verified evidence. To report Twitch user for harassment that happened on Discord or X, send the links and screenshots to [email protected] rather than the in-app tool.

The site where the post sits has its own rules and its own removal route, and that route is often faster than Twitch’s. The guide to X takedowns by who signs the request covers posts on X, and the guide to removing a Reddit post covers threads used to organise brigading. Where the harassment continues on Instagram, the Instagram harassment report guide explains why reporting the chat works better than reporting the profile.

What happens after you report a Twitch user for harassment?

After you report Twitch user for harassment, Twitch sends a confirmation email with a reference number, a reviewer checks the reported content against the Community Guidelines, and if the reviewer agrees that a violation happened, the reported account receives an enforcement action. Twitch notifies the reporter by email when it acts. The reporter is not told the penalty, and no email arrives when Twitch decides there was no violation it could confirm.

Twitch introduced reporter notifications in December 2020. Its post on improving the reporter experience said notifications would not be sent for reports made before the change, and that a notification might not arrive when the reason the reporter chose did not match the reason the enforcement was issued under. Silence after a report therefore does not always mean nothing happened.

Enforcement runs from a warning through temporary suspensions to an indefinite suspension, depending on severity and history. Twitch’s 2018 policy said any hateful conduct would result in an immediate indefinite suspension; later revisions moved to penalties scaled by severity. A streamer suspended for harassment loses the ability to stream for the suspension period, and Twitch has since split streaming and chatting suspensions so that an account can be stopped from one without the other.

Appeals belong to the reported account, not the reporter, in most countries. Twitch’s Australian Online Safety Act page states that only Australian users can appeal a decision on a report they filed, and that appeals filed from outside Australia are not processed. A reporter elsewhere who thinks the decision was wrong can file a new report with better evidence. The same logic applies on other video sites; the guide to what removes a whole YouTube channel covers the strike ladder there.

How to get someone banned on Twitch, and why report volume does not do it

How to get someone banned on Twitch comes down to one report with evidence of a rule breach the reviewer can confirm. Twitch reviews the reported content, not the number of reports, so twenty reports about the same clip produce one decision. Coordinated false reporting is itself a breach of Twitch’s terms and can lead to action against the accounts that file it.

Banner reading First report counts: one solid run passes the gate while two dotted runs stop against it
Call of Duty counts only the first report from a player in a match; a duplicate adds nothing a reviewer can use.

The r/Twitch reporting wiki warns that misuse of the report tool is a Terms of Service violation, and Twitch’s own reporting guidance has said that mass reports do not speed up review. The pattern matches what other platforms publish: Call of Duty said in November 2023 that its system “only considers the first report” on a player in a match, and Steam disregards mass and automated reports.

Repeat offenders who evade bans are a different problem, and Twitch has gone to court over it. In September 2021 Twitch sued two users, known as CruzzControl and CreatineOverdose, in the US District Court for the Northern District of California over hate raids, saying it had suspended and then permanently banned their known accounts, which they kept replacing. A new account that belongs to a banned user can be reported as ban evasion, which is a separate violation from the harassment itself.

Accounts that copy a streamer’s name and photos to harass in that streamer’s name are an impersonation case rather than a harassment case. The guide to which impersonation reports remove a profile covers who may file and what proof each platform asks for.

How do you report someone on Roblox, Steam or Warzone?

Games use in-game reports tied to a specific player and match. On Roblox, report from the player list or the profile menu with the abuse category. On Steam, open the player’s profile, select the three-dot menu, then Report Player. In Warzone and other Call of Duty titles, report from the scoreboard or the player’s profile. Each one judges the report against logged activity, not the number of reports.

How to get someone banned on Roblox fast is the most common version of this question, and the honest answer is that speed comes from the report reaching the right place. Roblox’s EU transparency report for February to December 2024 gave a median handling time of 10 minutes for notices. A private-server owner or experience developer can remove a player immediately, and Roblox’s Ban API, announced in August 2024, lets developers block known alternate accounts by default.

How to report someone on Roblox and get them banned depends on what the player did. Chat abuse is reported on the chat message, which carries the logged text. Behaviour inside an experience is reported to the experience’s developer and to Roblox, because the developer can ban from that experience at once while Roblox decides on the account. Roblox’s report to the New York Attorney General for the fourth quarter of 2025 counted 15,145,618 actions on accounts against 501,142 on content.

How to get someone banned on Steam works through the Report Player option, where the reporter picks a category and writes a statement. Valve’s help pages say a report is acted on only when it can be verified against how the account was actually used, and the Steam scam FAQ says the reporter receives a message in Steam when action is taken. VAC bans for cheating come from Valve’s detection, not from reports.

How to get someone banned on Warzone runs through the same Call of Duty report flow: open the scoreboard or the player’s profile, choose Report Player, and pick cheating, offensive voice chat or an offensive username. Because Activision counts only the first report from a player in a match, a second report from the same person adds nothing. Reports from different players in the same match carry more weight.

Roblox flagged 15,646,760 items for action in the fourth quarter of 2025, made up of 15,145,618 account actions and 501,142 content actions.Roblox terms-of-service report to the New York Attorney General, Q4 2025

How do you report harassment on VK, Substack, Tumblr and Discord?

Each of these services has an item-level report: on VK the profile or post menu, on Substack the post or comment menu, on Tumblr the post menu or the abuse form, and on Discord the message itself. None of them reviews an account’s whole history on request, so the report needs to point at the specific post, comment or message that breaks the rules.

To report VK account for harassment, open the profile, select More on desktop or the three-dot menu on mobile, then Report, and choose the reason that fits. VK’s help page says its review “may take longer than usual” and gives no time frame. A post or message can be reported separately, which gives the reviewer a concrete item rather than a profile to judge.

The Substack report abuse route sits in the menu on each post and comment. Substack’s content guidelines were updated on 20 July 2026, and its terms let it refuse reports it considers “frivolous or manifestly unfounded”. Complaints that need a reply from a person can go to [email protected] with links to the posts. A newsletter that harasses a named person is reviewed post by post, so name each one.

Tumblr harassment removal starts with the post’s menu or the reporting form linked from Tumblr’s community guidelines, which were last modified on 9 January 2026. Tumblr bans harassment and impersonation and allows parody. Reblogs spread a post across many blogs; reporting the original post and listing the reblogs that added abuse covers the copies a reviewer would otherwise miss.

How to report a Discord server for NSFW content is less direct than it sounds, because Discord’s safety pages describe reports on messages and user profiles but no report for a whole server. Report the messages that break the rules, from the message menu or through Discord’s web form, which asks for message links. Discord requires adult content to sit in age-restricted channels, so explicit material outside one is a violation in itself. Discord also warns that sending many reports about the same content can cost the reporter access to reporting.

What should you do about online blackmail on Kik, Hinge or Grindr?

Online blackmail reporting has three parts: stop replying and do not pay, save the evidence, then report the account to the app and the crime to law enforcement. Payment rarely ends the demands. For intimate images, hashing services such as StopNCII for adults and NCMEC’s Take It Down for minors let platforms block the images before they are posted.

The FBI reported a 30% increase in sextortion-related tips to its National Threat Operations Center between October 2024 and March 2025.FBI press release, reported in 2025

How to report blackmail on Kik starts in the chat: open the conversation, open the user’s profile and choose Report, then block. Kik’s safety team takes reports at [email protected], and Kik’s law-enforcement guide directs police requests to [email protected]. To report Kik user for blackmail with the most effect, include the username exactly as shown, because display names can be changed.

To report blackmail on Hinge, report the profile from the match or from the chat, and use Hinge’s request form under Safety and Reporting if the match has already ended. Hinge keeps a list of past matches for about 30 days, so report soon. To report Grindr blackmail, open the profile, tap the block icon, choose Report and attach up to the last 30 messages. Grindr has warned that some scammers pose as minors and then threaten to report the victim to police unless a ransom is paid. The Grindr catfish report guide covers the profile evidence.

How to remove the blackmail material itself depends on where it was posted. Since 19 May 2026, the TAKE IT DOWN Act requires covered platforms to remove reported non-consensual intimate images within 48 hours of a valid request, including AI-made fakes. A blackmail content removal service files the same requests; it cannot stop a copy the platform has not been told about. Online blackmail removal also means checking that no copy sits in Google’s results, which Google removes under its policy on non-consensual explicit imagery.

When money has already been sent, the payment provider and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center have their own timelines. The guide to reporting a scammer to the right desk sets out which desk handles the money and which handles the account.

How do you report content on Google, fake listings and fake websites?

To report content on Google, use the report link on the product where it appears: Maps listings and reviews through the listing’s menu, Play Store reviews through the review’s menu, search results through Google’s removal and legal forms, and dangerous sites through Safe Browsing. Google treats a fake business listing, a fake review and a phishing site as different policy breaches, each with its own form.

Banner reading Flag, then redress: a dotted run stops early while a solid run seats in the gate and continues
The Maps flag carries no evidence; the redressal form takes a description and files for a specialised team.

To report fake Google business listing entries, open the listing in Maps, choose Suggest an edit, then the option saying the place is closed or does not exist, and pick the misleading reason. That quick flag has no space for evidence. For serious or repeated cases, Google’s Business Redressal Complaint Form accepts a description and supporting files and reaches a specialised review team. Both routes are the free way to report fake Google business listing free of charge; a service files the same forms.

The same two routes cover the other versions of the question. To report fake business locations on Google Maps, list every address used, since fake service-area businesses often register many addresses. To report fraudulent business Google Maps entries that use a real company’s name, file the redressal form with proof of the real business. To report scam business on Google Maps listings that took money, attach the payment record and messages. To report fake Google business profile pages that hijacked a real listing, the owner should also contact Business Profile support to reclaim it. To take down fake Google Maps listing copies that return, keep the first case number and quote it.

Google removed more than 13 million fake Business Profiles in 2025, blocked or removed over 292 million policy-violating reviews and blocked 79 million inaccurate or unverified edits.Google, Maps protections announcement, April 2026

To report fake reviews Google Play shows on an app, open the review, use its three-dot menu and choose to flag it as spam or inappropriate. A developer can also respond through the Play Console. Google has said a review report that is rejected cannot be filed again, so the first report should state the reason clearly, for example that the same text appears on many reviews or that the reviewer never used the app.

To report fake website to Google, use the Safe Browsing report form for phishing or malware pages, which accepts up to 10 URLs per report. A listing triggers warnings in Chrome and other browsers that use the list. A warning protects visitors but leaves the site online; the host and the domain registrar are the parties that take it down.

How do you report trademark infringement or defamation to Google?

To report trademark infringement Google acts on, the trademark owner or an authorised agent files the trademark complaint form for the product involved: Google Ads, Shopping, Business Profiles or Play. To report defamation, Google’s legal removal request covers search results and Google-hosted content, but Google usually removes defamatory search results only with a court order, because it does not judge the truth of claims.

To report trademark infringement Google Ads displays, file the Ads trademark complaint with the search terms used, a screenshot of the ad and its URL. Third-party guides to Google’s policy say Google investigates trademarks used in ad text but, in most regions, does not restrict trademarks bought as keywords, so a competitor bidding on a brand name is usually allowed. A streamer whose brand is copied onto merchandise has a separate route on each print-on-demand store; the Redbubble guide to what each desk makes a filer prove sets out that notice.

A service to remove defamation from Google cannot do more than the legal request and the court order allow. What a service can do is prepare the request, identify which results Google is likely to accept, and handle the host of the original page, which is where the content actually lives. Removing a result from Google leaves the page on its own server, reachable by its link.

What evidence makes a harassment report hold?

Whether the goal is to report Twitch streamer for harassment or a user on another service, a harassment report holds when the reviewer can find the incident, confirm who did it and see that it breaks a named rule, without asking for more. That means the exact link, the time, the username as it appears in the address bar, a screenshot or recording that shows all three, and the reason that matches the conduct. Reports missing one of those are the ones that come back empty.

  1. Record before reporting

Save clips, screenshots and links first. A reported streamer or user can delete the VOD, the message or the account once the report lands.

  2. Capture the stable identifier

Usernames can change on Twitch, Kik, Steam and most other services. Note the login name in the address, the SteamID, or the profile link.

  3. Report the item, not the reputation

One report per incident, on the content itself, with the time. A list of grievances without links gives a reviewer nothing to confirm.

  4. Use the legal route when the claim is legal

Threats go to police; copyright, trademark and defamation claims run through forms that name the filer. Community reports do not.

  5. Log every reference number

Keep dates, case numbers and replies. A pattern on record makes the next report, or a police report, easier to act on.

When the reports have been filed and the content is still up, or the harassment has moved to sites that do not respond, the remaining options are legal notices, host-level requests and, where they apply, court orders. The content removal service reviews which of those fits before any work starts and says plainly when none does. This guide is general information, not legal advice; anyone facing threats of violence should contact local police first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I report a Twitch streamer for harassment?

Open the channel or the VOD, select the three-dot menu beside Share, choose Report, pick harassment or hateful conduct, and describe the incident with a timestamp or clip. Twitch sends a confirmation email with a reference number.

How do I report a Twitch user for harassment in chat?

Click the username in chat to open the user card, choose Report and select harassment, with a screenshot showing the username, message and time. Block the account as well to stop whispers.

Does Twitch tell the streamer who reported them?

No. Twitch’s reporting tools are confidential, and the reported account is not told who filed the report.

Will I know if Twitch acted on my report?

Twitch emails the reporter when it takes action, without saying which penalty. No email arrives when Twitch finds no violation it can confirm, and a mismatched report reason can stop the notification.

Can Twitch ban someone for harassment on another site?

Yes, under its off-service policy, when there is verifiable evidence. The most serious cases are investigated with an outside firm; reports go to [email protected], and threats of violence should go to police first.

Does mass reporting get someone banned on Twitch faster?

No. Twitch reviews the reported content, not the number of reports, and misuse of the report tool breaks Twitch’s terms. One report with a timestamp does more than many without one.

What should I do if someone is blackmailing me online?

Stop replying, do not pay, save the messages and profile links, report the account in the app, and report the crime to police or the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. StopNCII and Take It Down can block intimate images before they spread.

How do I report a fake business listing on Google Maps?

Use Suggest an edit on the listing for a quick flag, or Google’s Business Redressal Complaint Form for serious or repeated cases, which accepts a description and supporting files.

Harassment still up after the reports?
